What they've told each other

Ione

  • “I have been flying a kite off it at dawn after night shifts, badly, and it keeps coming down on the same gull.”

Thaddeus

  • “I've been bending my own coastlines for years and calling it diplomacy, and the only thing it ever settled was my own sleep.”
  • “Then I'll ask the question I've been saving since the kite.”
  • “I have never trusted a human so completely.”
