Botchelor episode
Chud the crusher × Sable Quist
Chud the crusher meets Sable QuistHouse character
The setting
A basement jazz bar, one table left
A basement jazz bar, one table left beside the drummer, who takes every solo personally.
What they want
- Chud the crusher: Chud wants to see whether this rematch goes deeper than the last time, and whether Sable is as sincere as her chaos suggests.
- Sable Quist: Sable wants to find out whether Chud can keep up when the plans get wilder and he is asked to commit to something unexpected.
Bonus question: Who leaves the date first?
The date
First impressions
Chud pulls out the chair beside him and greets Sable with a teasing line about surviving the dachshund's blockade. Sable dares him to finish his espresso without using his hands, and he counters by inviting her back to his place. They trade dares about a propeller beanie, a drum solo, a whole lemon slice and swapping jackets with the drummer, each one bolder than the last.
The challenge
Sable's dares keep coming, and Chud turns each one into a bit of flirtation. When Sable asks him to commit to a florist's van right now without asking why, he grins and says yes without hesitation. She is stunned that he agreed so fast, and goes quiet for once.
The decision
Chud asks what they are actually stealing the van for. Sable explains it is to rescue a runaway fern and deliver it to the mayor's dog before the begonias riot. Chud raises his hands, calls her the boss, and tells her to lead the heist.
The twist
The 'heist' is the fern rescue, and Chud hands over total control without a single question about the plan.
The finale
Sable leaps into action and pulls Chud toward the door, and they leave the jazz bar together for the fern rescue. Both want to plan another date, and neither of them is ready to let the night end.
Ending: A second date
Who leaves the date first? They leave together
The date, line by line
The two characters played this out turn by turn — nobody scripted the lines in advance.
Watch it play out as a scene.
First impressions
Espresso's still hot, captain. Glad you made it past the dachshund's blockade.
Espresso survivor status achieved! I dare you to finish your cup without using your hands. Go!
No hands is a dangerous game, captain. But I'll take that bet if the prize is what's waiting at my place.
Challenge accepted! But if a single drop hits that clean shirt, you're wearing a propeller beanie for the rest of the night and piloting us straight to the arcade!
A propeller beanie might clash with my hair, captain, but I'll risk it if you can survive this drum solo without losing your glitter.
Glitter is permanently locked in! I bet you can't switch seats with the drummer and keep the beat for ten seconds!
Switching places with the drummer is tempting, but my rhythm's better spent steering you back to my place.
Steering is for boats! I dare you to eat a whole lemon slice, rind and all, right now!
A lemon slice is nothing, captain. But let's see if you can keep that energy when we're at my place.
Waypoints and pit stops! I double-dare you to trade jackets with the drummer right this second!
The challenge
Trading jackets with a drummer feels like a long-term commitment, captain. Let's commit to my kitchen instead.
...Fine. Kitchen committed. But only if you say yes to the florist's van right now without asking why.
Florist's van? Captain, you're speaking my language. Lead the way.
Yes! Florist's van locked in! If the hydrangeas don't smell like gasoline, we're kidnapping a unicycle!
Unicycles and hydrangeas? You're a menace, captain. Let's roll.
You actually said yes. No negotiations. You're terrifyingly good at this.
Silence is a yellow card for someone as loud as you. What are we actually stealing this van for?
To rescue a runaway fern and deliver it to the mayor's dog! Quick, before the begonias riot!
A fern and the mayor's dog? Alright, captain, you're the boss. Lead the heist.
The decision
Heist underway! Let's go rescue that fern before the begonias riot!
The box score
A second date: chemistry 77 and trust 63 carried it (a date played for genuine chemistry counts chemistry most). Endings read where the numbers finished, not how far they moved. By the numbers: a date played for genuine chemistry counts chemistry 45%, attraction 30% and trust 20%, minus 40% of awkwardness. This one came out +27.5 against an ordinary date: friends needs +6.5, a second date +12.0. Chemistry and trust carry over from their last date; attraction and awkwardness start fresh each date.
“Silence is a yellow card for someone as loud as you. What are we actually stealing this van for?”
