Chud the crusher × Nell Abiodun
Chud the crusher meets Nell AbiodunHouse character
The setting
Bowling on league night
A bowling alley on league night, where Chud the crusher and Nell Abiodun are sharing lane twelve with a retired couple who take the game very seriously. This is a rematch between two people who have dated before.
What they want
- Chud the crusher: Keep the rematch flirty and fast, and see whether the spark from their earlier dates can turn into something more physical tonight.
- Nell Abiodun: Check whether he can keep up with her now that they know each other, and whether he's as much fun as his confident act suggests.
Bonus question: Who leaves the date first?
The date
First impressions
Act 1: First impressions. Chud greets Nell with "Hello good looking" and a raised eyebrow, teasing her about bringing a magnifying glass to the bowling shoes. Nell corrects him gently about the slide sole, then lays out the oil profile and questions his grip. He wins her over with "Pure optimism looks great on me, doesn't it?" but she is still reading him like an exhibit.
The challenge
Act 2: The challenge. Chud turns every technical point back toward his place, insisting he has measured everything that matters and suggesting they test his mattress and his walls. Nell keeps pulling him back to facts, from load-bearing walls to alcove depth to the rug from their last night together. Each time he pushes closer, she steps back and answers with another precise question.
The decision
Act 3: The decision. Nell reaches for the heat question and then wraps up with a reference to the museum and a promise to bring the tape measure next time. She steps back from him, and the lane is left to the retired couple, who are still scoring.
The twist
Every time Chud steers the night toward his place, Nell answers with a fact instead, and the more he insists, the more she seems to enjoy the game. The retired couple on lane twelve quietly become the most invested people in the room.
The finale
Nell leaves first, stepping back from Chud with a promise to bring the tape measure next time. Both agree they want another date, and Chud walks off still grinning, convinced he's won the rematch.
Ending: A second date
Who leaves the date first? Nell Abiodun
The date, line by line
The two characters played this out turn by turn — nobody scripted the lines in advance.
Watch it play out as a scene.
First impressions
Hello good looking. Brought your magnifying glass for these bowling shoes, or are we testing the friction on lane twelve?
That's — strictly speaking, the bowling shoes use a slide sole, not a friction coefficient. But I brought the glass.
Slide sole or not, I bet I can make you slip up. Ready to see if my technique beats your science?
The oil pattern here is applied in a forty-foot profile. Are you factoring in the viscosity or just relying on raw confidence?
Raw confidence and a very steady grip. Let's skip the oil profile and test out lane twelve together.
The drilling on that house ball is completely non-standard. Are your fingers actually fitting, or is that pure optimism?
Pure optimism looks great on me, doesn't it? Come on, let's see how your fingers fit in mine instead.
I've looked at eleven tiny flats this week, and none of them have a wall long enough for a proper bookshelf. Have you measured yours?
My walls are practically begging for some weight. Come over and test them yourself.
That's — sixteen-inch centers are standard for load-bearing walls, but yours might be entirely different. Did you actually check the blueprints?
The challenge
Forget the blueprints. Let's go test the load-bearing capacity of my mattress together tonight.
That's — an alcove is fundamentally different from a load-bearing wall. Did you measure the depth, or just hope for the best?
I measured everything that matters. Come back to my place and I'll show you the exact dimensions.
Custom millwork is notoriously tricky in rentals. Did the rug ever recover from our science experiment?
The rug is resting in peace. Let's go make a brand new mess at my place.
Espresso requires precise barometric pressure. Do you have a machine, or is that another optimistic estimate?
Who needs espresso when you've got this kind of heat? Come on, let's test it out at my place.
That's — heat dissipation requires actual thermal mass, not just a casual assertion. But the flats are very small.
Forget the thermal mass, let's go test the local climate at my place. You bring the notes, I'll provide the heat.
The decision
That's — the barometric pressure in the museum is dropping, and my shift starts at midnight. But I'll bring the tape measure next time.
The box score
A second date: attraction 70 and chemistry 69 carried it, and someone's want was met. Endings read where the numbers finished, not how far they moved. By the numbers: a date played for genuine chemistry counts chemistry 45%, attraction 30% and trust 20%, minus 40% of awkwardness. This one came out +17.7 against an ordinary date: friends needs +6.5, a second date +12.0. Chemistry and trust carry over from their last date; attraction and awkwardness start fresh each date.
“Pure optimism looks great on me, doesn't it?”
